Overview
This study aims to prioritise the recommendations from the Clinical Practice Guidelines and Principles of Care for People with Dementia requiring implementation in the general practice setting and identify those which GPs perceive as recommendations where additional support is most required for implementation.
Progress
41 participants have been recruited (36 GPs, 4 practice nurses and 1 medical services manager with a GP background) and have completed a first round of feedback on a) the critical components of the NHMRC Clinical Practice Guidelines and Principles of Care for People with Dementia for GPs to implement in general practice, and b) the components of care where there is the greatest need for support for GP implementation. In round 2, participants were asked to rate a) how important they believe it is to implement the relevant recommendations, and b) to what extent they believe additional support is required for implementation. Data collection for round 2 is now complete, and write up of the findings has commenced.
Next Steps
Data collection is complete and a paper has been drafted intended for publication.
