

Overview
This study aims to explore perceptions of community members regarding:
1) Signs that an older person may lack decision making capacity;
2) Capacity assessment processes across medical, financial and personal domains, including: a) Who can be approached to obtain a capacity assessment; b) What can be done when the person refuses a capacity assessment, and c) What should be included as part of the capacity assessment;
3) Approaches to substitute and supported decision making for older people for medical, financial and personal decisions.
Progress
Survey is in development. Ethics application to be submitted once face-to-face data collection is deemed appropriate by the relevant ethics committee.
