Overview: This is an ACcORD affiliated PhD project. A cross-sectional survey of caregivers of people with dementia recruited from geriatric outpatient health services. This study aims to 1) Examine the experiences of caregivers regarding the process of obtaining a diagnosis of dementia with the person they support, and the time between recognition of first symptoms and diagnosis 2) Explore whether socio-demographic and health-related characteristics of i) people with dementia and ii) caregivers, are associated with time taken to obtain a diagnosis 3) Compare current data with the findings of previous research to examine whether the process and time taken to obtain a diagnosis has changed.
