Overview: The NSW government argues that palliative care needs will be met through a range of primary care and non-specialist palliative care options, with additional support provided by specialist palliative care services. However, GPs may experience a range of barriers to the delivery of palliative care. Non-government organisations may also play a role in supporting GPs’ delivery of palliative care, however the type of support that these organisations may provide has been unexplored. This study will aim to identify GPs’ perceptions of the most significant barriers and enablers to providing palliative care, so that these can be addressed as part of the proposed model.
